Allen Harry

Allen W. Harry is a California native who was born in Oakland and raised in Los Angeles. He studied electronic communications and earned his degree from Durham College with coursework from Arizona State University.

He began his formal education during his time in the U.S. Air Force, where he was trained as a jet engine mechanic and assigned to Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. When he retired from the Air Force in 1964 he returned to Los Angeles where he began an illustrious 36-year-career in military communications.

Among his first roles was with a company called Teledyne where he joined a team working on the Apollo program which launched his career in space systems design and development. In 1966, he began working with Motorola Aerospace, Corp., and in 1975 he was recruited by the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., to work in the Spacecraft Technology Center doing applications research and development for space systems in support of national and military interests.

After advancing from his role as an engineer to becoming a manager, he earned the position of Technical Director for Space Communications. In 1980, Al and his family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he became the Technical Director and Acquisition Manager for a large classified space program. He retired from government service in June of 2000.

Residing in Littleton, Colorado, Al and his wife Sandra enjoy their two standard poodles, Caby and Geoff. He has a large family of five children, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
