Jamie Beyerle Finishes 4th in Women’s 3 Position Rifle at Milan World Cup MILAN, Italy (May 26, 2009) ![]() Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, Pa.) finished in fourth place today in the Women’s 50m 3 Position Rifle event at the ISSF World Cup for Rifle and Pistol in Milan, Italy. Beyerle’s finish is the highest for the U.S. so far in Milan. Beyerle, a 2008 Olympian, went into the final round in sixth place with 583 points and fought to the last shot with Chinese shooter Wan Xiangyan for a spot on the podium, but ended up finishing in fourth place with a total score of 683.7 points. Beyerle’s overall score was only four tenths of a point from the bronze medal, which went to Wan, who ended with total score of 684.1 (585+99.1) points. Beyerle fired 100.7 points in the final, which was the second highest final score behind Sonja Pfeilschifter of Germany, who shot a final of 101.9 to grab the gold with a total score of 686.9. Serbian shooter Lidija Mihajlovic took home the silver with a total score of 685.3 points (587+98.3). The U.S. Shooting team’s second highest finish so far in the Milan World Cup occurred on Sunday when 2008 Olympian Brian Beaman (Selby, S.D.) finished in seventh place in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event. Beaman ended the qualification round tied for eighth place at 580 points with five other shooters and won the shoot-off to qualify for the eight-person final. Beaman fired 98.2 points in the final to finish in seventh place with an overall score of 678.2 points. Competition at the Milan World Cup continues Wednesday with the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event and concludes on Thursday with the Men’s 50m Free Pistol and 50m Prone Rifle events.
