Ole Mill Range Complex in Griffin, Georgia Granted USA Shooting Regional Training Center Status

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 9, 2009)

The Ole Mill Range Complex was recently awarded Regional Training Center status by USA Shooting. The range, which is in its fourth year of operation, is conveniently located at 129 North Searcy Avenue (on the corner of Broadway St and North Searcy Avenue), in Griffin, Ga.

Ole Mill Range Complex is a 52-Position 10m airgun range (BB, Sporter and Precision) and provides opportunities for young athletes to compete and prepare for state and national level competition, collegiate scholarships and Olympic aspirations. Air Pistol enthusiasts enjoy six dedicated 10m firing points specially constructed to support their events.

Construction is nearly complete for 14 firing lanes for dual use in 10m air rifle/50 foot smallbore, as well as 10 firing lanes for 50 meter competitions which will bring the facility into only a handful of such facilities in the entire nation.

The 10m range conforms to all current national level specifications for target height and distance, and features target lighting that conforms to specifications for range illumination.

The range facility operates with similar safety rules and procedures as other competition firearms ranges. Training classes are scheduled throughout the year with basic marksmanship and safety classes offered for beginners through advanced shooting sports athletes. Level 1 Coach Certification and Certified Range Safety Officer courses are conducted as needed. Three-position Air Rifle and International 3P Smallbore camps are all conducted at various times each year, usually in the summer.

The range is open on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. and by appointment. There are approx eight State Championships, National Qualifiers or similar competitions scheduled each year.
