2009 USAS-CMP-NRA Coach College and Conference Planned for Oct. 3–11, 2009

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 22, 2009)

USA Shooting will host the 2009 USAS-CMP-NRA Coach College and Conference for the continuing education of our coaches and program leaders October 3-11, 2009 at the U.S. Olympic Training Complex in Colorado Springs. Five opportunities for coach development are outlined below.

Registration will open on August 3, 2009, 60 days prior to the event. Check this website at that time for registration instructions and event details, including participation capacity. Limited lodging on the Olympic Training Complex is available for $25/night, on a first come, first served basis. Approximately 60 lodging billets will be available on the complex; participation beyond the first 60 entrants must stay off-complex in the local area.

October 3-5 National Coach Development Staff Schools. (These schools are by invitation only.) If you desire to become a National Coach Development Staff member, please contact Marcus Raab or Don Sipes, NRA National Coach Trainers at 703-267-1589 or 703-267-1401, or email to: mraab@nrahq.org or dsipes@nrahq.org. In order to be considered for this school you must provide a letter of intent, a shooting/coaching experience resume, and proof of a valid shooting coach credential. The school starts mid-afternoon on October 3, so arrival on Saturday morning is possible.

October 6-7: Level 1 Coach Schools for Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun. Open to anyone desiring basic level coach training. Fee: $100.00. (Fee includes a 3-year registration).

October 6-8: Level 3 Advanced Coach Schools for Rifle and Pistol (No Shotgun). Open to any coach with current Level 2 certification. Fee: $125.00.

October 8: American Sport Education Program (ASEP) Coaching Principles Course. Part of the additional requirements (along with First Aid) to become a Level 2 Certified Coach. Fee: $100.00.

October 9-11: National Coach Conference and CMP State Junior Director Meeting. The Conference will cover a variety of coaching topics such as Training Plans, Building Programs, Sports Psychology, The Path to the Olympics, and Risk Management. Guest speakers in their area of specialty will use lecture and Question-and Answer formats. Fee: $150.00.
